Why Me?
What is it about love that gives everyone such great power to create incredible joy? And then with little or no warning to turn around and discard it, breaking someone’s heart and inflicting incredible pain. We see this happen every day as lives are destroyed by love turned to hate, and the trust they had in each other shattered like a china plate cast upon the rocks in a fit of anger and frustration. We watch them as they frantically search through the rubble of their lives, looking for what went wrong, and our minds recoil in fear. This could happen to us. Enough! I can't take it any longer. I have been there, and now I'm back.
As I slowly returned from that pit of despair so many years ago I looked for the answers that would keep it from ever happening to me again. When I once again felt the power of true love fill my heart and soul, I decided to share what I had learned along the way. I have written it all down in a book. It is a magical book containing all the secrets of true love. I want to live in a loving world. I want the same for all the children and grandchildren that will, in their turn, help shape the future generations to come. Writing this book, and sharing it with all of you, gives me great hope for a better tomorrow.
The Story of Three Great Quests
The First Quest
The first of my three great quests was to find and keep a true love of self, a lofty goal, which took me 42 years to complete. It was a journey through life and a daunting task, filled with many painful memories and great sorrows as I sought out and learned the hard way all the secrets of what love really is. When I had finally reached my goal, the incredible peace and happiness that suddenly filled my life brought time to its knees as I set out each day to love and be loved in a new world that opened up before my very eyes. Using those secrets to how to love and be loved I went out and created a true love relationship for myself. Twelve years went by like it was twelve months. It was like heaven on earth. Looking around me, I became more and more aware of the pain and suffering of my children and my friends as they struggled to find the same answers. But, the secrets of true love remained hidden from them. I set out on my second great quest. I needed to find the clues that would lead them to the secrets.
Discovering the Clues to all True Love's Hidden Secrets
This second quest required that I relive the many years of my life, leaving no stone unturned, no question left without an answer, until I had uncovered all the secrets. Every attempt to love and be loved along the way contained a clue. Every joy I ever experienced was once again brought to life. Every sorrow inflicted by me or on me, once again, caused me pain. Time, and time again, I had to remind myself I was doing this, not for myself, but for the world I hoped to change. I moved onward, the incredible joy of my own true love relationship giving me the strength to persevere, inspiring me to continue on this difficult quest. When I was done, I had them all, all the secrets to true love, in my grasp. Having lived my life once, and then relived it yet again, I felt the burden of keeping these secrets to myself grow heavier each day that passed.
Sharing the Secrets to True Love with those who long for Peace, Love, and Happiness
On a snowy day in January of 2007 I began my third, and greatest quest, I sat down and began to write. I remember the day. I remember gazing out the window at the white wonderland and marveled at the peace and quiet. Slowly, I typed out the title page to this book, and felt this burden begin to lift from my shoulders. I cannot describe the joy I felt as each word fell from my mind and gently landed on the page.There are those times when the Truth about Love is difficult to hear Each chapter seemed to come to life as I carefully revealed each secret, describing in great detail what path I had traveled, the joy and sorrow I experienced in my search, and where I had, at last, found it.
My first draft of this book was a disaster. A Baptist minister preaching hell and damnation could have done a better job of convincing someone that it was the truth. I paused and considered my options. There must be a better way. As I struggled with this dilemma I began to hear voices. We all do this, hearing voices in our heads as we look for solutions to life’s many problems. In all, I heard at least six or more voices that day. Looking at what I had written, I realized I heard none of them coming from my book. I started writing again, putting the voices in as I went. The second draft came out much better. But, something was still missing. It was cold to the touch, like a book detailing points of clinical psychology. As I read what I had wrote down I discovered I had left the love out of it, and it sounded like a lecture series, a litany of do's and don’ts offered in a monotonous tone of voice. The book simply had no heart. Unwilling to surrender my dream, I vowed to try again.
With the Simple Words of "I Care" and "I Share" a New Relationship is Born
They say that the third time is the charm. In my third draft I found a way to let my readers know that I loved and cared for them. I shared my joy with them and invited them to the celebration. I shared my sorrow with them and let them know I shared theirs too. When I wrote the last words in the final chapter, I knew I had succeeded in becoming a writer. And, I knew I had written a great book about love. I became more aware that there was a much greater need for this book than even I had envisioned. There are so many people who are suffering in silence, unable to find the secrets for themselves, watching their relationships stop growing and slowly growing cold as their love for one another gradually died on the vine. This book can teach them how to love again in their own special way. When I finished writing it I knew it was time to share it with the world.
"Our Quest To Love and Be Loved" is a book that will show you the way
Our awareness of love starts when we are born. Our desire for it continues until our last breath. This book has been written for all people, regardless of their age. When asked who will read it, my answer is anyone who is on a Quest for true love, and anyone who is searching for peace, and love, and happiness. You are never too old to complete this Quest, nor too young to start it. It can, and will, change the lives of those who read even one chapter, and the voices in the book will guide them down their own chosen path in life. This book is timeless in its content and will remain so, even a hundred years from now. And, both the young and the old will learn from it. It is my sincerest desire that should you and I meet someday in this wonderful world in which we both live, that encounter will be filled with peace, happiness, and joy that can only come from true love.
